Person-Centered Approach
For older children, preadolescents, adolescents, and young adults I offer individual counseling rooted in a person-centered approach. Many young people today face overwhelming pressures—academic, social, internal—and can struggle with feeling alone or unsure of how to cope. In therapy, we focus on building emotional insight, self-awareness, and personal responsibility. Rather than giving advice or quick fixes, I support clients in exploring their own thoughts and feelings, creating coping skills, helping them grow more confident in who they are and how they relate to the world around them.

Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT)
CPRT teaches parents the skills used in play therapy so you can strengthen your connection with your child at home. Through this approach, you'll learn how to create special one-on-one play times where you follow your child's lead, reflect their feelings, and communicate acceptance without judgment. These skills help reduce power struggles, increase cooperation, and deepen the bond between you and your child. It's about learning to see the world through your child's eyes and responding in ways that build trust and connection. Many parents find that just 30 minutes of this special play time each week transforms their entire relationship with their child.

CBT for Trauma
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for trauma helps young people understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors after difficult experiences. Together, we work to identify unhelpful thought patterns that may have developed as a result of trauma and replace them with more balanced, realistic thinking. Your child will learn practical coping skills to manage overwhelming emotions, reduce anxiety, and regain a sense of safety and control. This approach is evidence-based and focuses on building resilience while processing traumatic experiences in a safe, supportive environment. The goal is to help your child move from surviving to thriving.

Parent Involvement/Collaboration
While your child is my client, you're an essential part of their healing journey. I believe in working with parents as partners, not keeping you in the dark. I'll keep you informed about your child's progress in ways that build connection rather than create more control battles at home. This might include teaching you new communication strategies, helping you understand your child's developmental needs, or simply offering support as you navigate this challenging time. My goal isn't to pull your child away from you—it's to strengthen your relationship and help you trust your parenting instincts again. Because when families feel more connected and parents feel more confident, everyone thrives.
